Meursault-Genevrières 1er Cru 2009, Domaine des Comtes Lafon

This Meursault premier cru always seems a tad harder to find than the ubiquitous Charmes and Perrières. To some extent it is more of a pure Meursault given its location further away from the badlands of Puligny. Produced from 65 year old vines this Meursault-Genevrières 2009 has a round, opulent nose of yellow stone fruits. Very rich lemon tartelette, multi-layered with apricot and pêche de vigne. Amazing concentration on the first taste yet with a remarkable feather-light finish. A superb wine with unique characteristics. And like other wines from the domain aged in just 20% new oak.
